Based in Kolkata, India - Zing Restaurants are a hugely popular hospitality business managing multiple brands under their umbrella.

Alongside their walk-in offerings Rang De Basanti Dhaba and Asia Asia Asia!, the group also operate delivery-only cloud-kitchen brands including Deja Bowl, Rosy Roti, Curry & Crust and Tandoori Pizza.

So essentially, they’re busy.

We caught up with Zing Restaurants' Assistant Manager for Data and Tech Daniel Suman Malakar to find out how they’re using Trail day-to-day to support the smooth running of operations within the business.

How would you describe an average day in your role?

On an average day of work, I start the day off by checking my emails then getting everything organised at the start of the day. After that, I look over my to-do list and get started on the projects that have the highest priority.

What were the main issues before you started using Trail and how has Trail helped you?

Before Trail it was like we were messing up with tasks and audits because we didn't have the right technical coordination processes in place. The biggest benefit for us has been the support with end-to-end solutions for tasks and audits that help the front-line team. Trail also gives us a good channel for coordination throughout the whole team.

What's your favourite thing about the app?

That it gives us an oversight of the team and the ability to track tasks and performance.

What's the best thing about Trail from your team's perspective?

The reminders to complete allocated tasks on time are a helpful feature for the team.

Do you have an idea of where Trail has saved you time/money?

Since switching to Trail we definitely spend less on paper. Making the operations more 'tech-savvy' also means we save time on things that traditionally took much longer.

Finally, what advice would you give to someone starting out a career in hospitality right now?

Don't think about success, just work hard - success will automatically follow you. And don't shy away from new tasks or responsibilities; every task is an opportunity to learn.
